BESA Book 2018 published

NOVEMBER 28 2017

The 2018 edition of the BESA Book was published yesterday, delivering valuable technical advice on the issues within the building services industry to BESA members, specifiers, main contractors and consulting engineers.

For the first time IEP has taken a page in this leading publication, showcasing our skills and products.  We're very proud of our achievements through our more than 30 year history, and of the projects we have worked on.

We welcome enquiries on ductwork projects of any size, and can offer references as to our quality and compliance with DW154.

No ductwork job too big

OCTOBER 22 2017

At IEP we're proud of the investments we have made in leading edge machinery and infrastructure.  It gives us a competitive advantage as it means we can take on projects that are too large for many of our competitors, in terms of both the volume and size of the ductwork required.

This 2000x2000mm PPs 90 degree bend, with turning vanes, is typical of the ductwork projects we are involved in, and whilst many competitors would say that they could make this, few are of a scale that could make this and all the other components required for a complete ductwork system.

In-house fibreglass resource is also critical in many larger scale ductwork projects.  Un-reinforced PVC fabrications are prone to damage if they are mis-handled, and transporting large components between fabricator and glasser leaves the item vulnerable to damage, which the main contractor might never be able to see once glassed and fitted.  For that reason we recommend that contractors confirm that glassing capability is held in house.

One can only imagine the damage that could have been done had this large, flanged PVC ductwork transition section need to be transported to the GRP contractor in an un-reinforced state.  Cracks in the PVC would have gone unnoticed, until some time after commissioning when the glass itself becomes the target of chemical attack from the fumes and condensate.

It's for these reasons that we always recommend to first time customers that they physically attend their fabricators' premises as part of their new supplier audit, to ensure that what is being said to them actually holds up to scrutiny.

Find IEP on Constructionline

OCTOBER 11 2017

IEP, a UK market leader in plastic ductwork and bespoke fabrication, is pleased to announce that it has joined Constructionline

Vicky Miller, branch manager in our Birmingham office, said "Constructionline membership ensures that IEP's products and services are in the eyeline of Building and M&E contractors, ensuring that our high quality solutions enhance building projects, particularly those which include complex fume extraction systems."

IEP, established more than 30 years ago, is a national supplier of thermoplastic sheet, rod, duct and fittings, supported by a fabrication facility for bespoke items, including fibreglass reinforcement.

IEP looks to increase its workforce

IEP looks to increase its workforce

AUGUST 30 2017

Industrial Engineering Plastics Limited (IEP), founded more than 30 years ago, is one of the UK's largest and longest established plastic ductwork fabricators and is well known for its high quality workmanship and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Allan Clarke, works manager, says "Our bespoke plastic ductwork is used in universities and industrial buildings across the UK and beyond, and we work with the largest UK construction businesses.  In the last six months our major projects have included a university in London, a water treatment works in Southampton and an industrial site in Oxford, as well as exporting product into Europe.  We're told that the London University project was the largest of its type in the last five years, which is testament to the commitment and knowledge of our team."

Having taken on several staff in 2016 to supplement the existing workforce, IEP is now recruiting again.   Clarke again "There has been a flight to quality in the last year or so, with customers recognising the benefits of partnering with a company which can meet the highest standards of quality and service.  Bringing another three trainee fabricators into the team will ensure that we can meet this increased demand."

Key to the company's success has been its investment in leading edge technologies, which has made a step change in productivity and sets it aside from its peers.  "IEP has embraced the future of fabrication" says Clarke, "We are well placed to meet the challenges of a dynamic and diverse market place, and we look forward to building our team in Liphook."
