Whilst we understand that each project is unique and our approach to it will be bespoke and tailored to our clients' needs, there are some frequently asked questions that can be answered quickly to save you time.

Our FAQs are laid out below for your convenience, however, if you have a question that is not answered here please do get in touch and we will be pleased to help.

Q. Do you hold items in stock?

A. Yes, IEP is a major stockist and distributor of a wide range of plastic sheet, pipe, duct and fittings in most sizes and types; next day delivery is usually available nationwide, or collection from our premises in Birmingham and Liphook.

Q. Is IEP a BESA member?

A. Yes. IEP are one of only a handful of plastic specialists who are members of BESA.

We think this is critically important. Your project will specify plastic ductwork that is fabricated and installed to BESA's DW154.

Only BESA members are audited by BESCA to ensure compliance with that standard, and given the safety-critical nature of fume extraction ductwork, assurance is vital in ensuring end user safety.

Q. How does working with IEP deliver assurance to my project?

A. As one of the few plastics specialists who are members of BESA, you can be assured that our plastic ductwork fabrication and installation has been audited for quality by the people who set the standard (DW154).

Our SSIP certification tells you that our health and safety policy, procedures and practices have been audited and accepted for construction/site projects.

As Gold members of Constructionline, you know that our broader compliance on matters like the environment, employment, safety and quality has been assessed and found to meet the requirements of PAS91.

Q. Can IEP assist with developing suitable plastic ducting systems for fume extraction and odour control projects?

A. Yes, this is a particular area of expertise. IEP has fabricated ductwork to DW154 using PVC, PVC/GRP, PPs and FBPP/GRP to suit a wide range of chemical and biological projects, and can provide prospective customers with reference sites.

As members of BESA (the publishers of DW154), IEP is audited to ensure that our work meets the requirements of the standard. This is just one reason why you should choose a BESA member for your building services project, and IEP if that project involves plastic ductwork.

Q. What is the UK standard for plastic ductwork?

A. The UK standard for fabrication and installation of plastic ductwork is DW154, published in 2000 by HVCA (now BESA). DW154 covers fabrication of PVC and Polypropylene/PPs ductwork, including where GRP reinforcement is required.

It is vital that your ductwork company fabricates to this standard - plastic ductwork is used for the transmission of chemical, biological and radiological fumes and vapours, and leaks caused by poor quality fabrication and/or installation may have tragic results.

Q. Does IEP fabricate bespoke items?

A. Yes, most of our fabrication work is bespoke, custom-made to order. Please ask, our capabilities are very extensive.

Q. How quickly can you quote for fabricated items?

A. With our computerised estimating/quoting system this can usually be provided within hours of your enquiry.

Q. Do you have a technical department?

A. IEP has a vast experience of the industry needs and can advise on suitability of the wide variety of plastics now available from the technological advances being constantly developed. Please ask.

Q. Can you provide impellers and back-plates for ducting systems?

A. Yes, IEP is the only manufacturer in the world of Brinkmann Impellers through its injection moulding facilities.

Q. Does IEP provide commission CNC services?

A. Investment in the latest CNC equipment has been made very recently and is available for commission services with rapid response.

Q. Do you cater for "special" colours and sizes?

A. Generally every request can be accepted and delivered quickly.

Q. Do you have your own transport facilities?

A. Yes, IEP generally deliver nationwide on their own fleet of vehicles from modern purpose-built premises in Birmingham and Hampshire.

Q. Does IEP provide installation services?

A. Where necessary this can be arranged through partners.

Q. Do you supply across the UK?

A. Not only do we supply throughout the UK, we also have customers in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. Simply email with your enquiry, and we'll see what we can do to help.
